  Cernunnos's horns glowed brightly, and instantly a giant thicket grew out and over the humans' homes, covering everything. All the humans' memories that they had built up over time, all their hopes that came with this new development were instantly snuffed out and swallowed up by the thicket. The frightful screams soon died down, and all was quiet. Cernunnos's facial expression could not be made out behind its eerie mask. The deer thought of one human who, while the thicket was overtaking the others, tried to protect someone. What does it mean for the scales to tip? If you love one thing, must you turn your back on everything else? Cernunnos was now left with nothing. It had nothing to protect, and no delusions to convince itself that it was full of love.
